The 2026 FIFA World Cup was the biggest in history — 48 teams, three host nations, 104 matches, and a global audience that broke every previous record. For iGaming operators and affiliates, it was also the longest and most complex peak season window the industry had seen.
Here’s how it looked from where we were standing — from the product side building the offering, and from the partner side turning it into results.
Preparation for a tournament of this scale doesn’t start at kick-off. Our sportsbook team began building out the World Cup offering months in advance — mapping markets, stress-testing odds models, and designing the betting experience around a tournament where upsets weren’t the exception, they were the pattern.
For a closer look at what that preparation actually involved — and what our Head of Sportsbook made of the tournament itself, from the group stage chaos to the third-place match that outscored the final — read our full interview with Artur.
Ahead of the tournament, we developed dedicated World Cup landing pages across all of our sports-enabled brands: Neospin, 1RedBet.
The pages were built for this tournament specifically — not repurposed from existing sports content. Conversion data confirmed it mattered.
Switching to a tournament-specific landing page increased conversion from landing to registration by an average of 20%. Depending on traffic source and audience, the uplift in final FTD conversion ranged from 10% to 20%.
To accelerate sports traffic during the tournament window, we ran a dedicated World Cup offer for partners, paying up to €30 per FTD under certain conditions. The result: sports traffic share across our products increased by 20–25% over the tournament period.
Two sources stood out during the World Cup.
SEO — already one of the highest-quality traffic types year-round — showed further improvement in conversion metrics during the tournament. High-intent audiences searching for betting content during a live major event convert at a different rate than baseline.
Tipster traffic had its moment. The World Cup is exactly the environment this traffic type is built for — a highly engaged, sports-specific audience actively looking for picks and odds. If you weren’t running tipster traffic this summer, it’s worth revisiting for the next major tournament.
Among the partners who moved quickly and capitalised on the tournament window, one stands out.
A tipster channel operating in Portugal on Neospin came into the World Cup with solid but unspectacular numbers. They made two decisions that changed that: they switched to the tournament-specific landing page, and they leaned into the moment — producing content that matched the energy of the event rather than running business-as-usual.
The numbers over the tournament period:
| Metric | Pre-World Cup | During World Cup |
| Monthly FTD | 30 | 84 |
| R2D | 37.31% | 60.16% |
| Traffic volume | baseline | +45.5% |
That’s 2.8x FTD growth and an R2D improvement of nearly 23 percentage points. Not from switching verticals or finding a new audience — from doing the same thing, better, at the right moment.
Based on our internal data across the tournament window, the markets that showed the strongest betting traffic performance:
🇦🇺Australia — Neospin
🇵🇹Portugal — Neospin
🇦🇷🇨🇱🇲🇽LatAm (AR, CL, MX) — 1RedBet
The World Cup window is closing. But the patterns it surfaced — which GEOs respond to tournament traffic, which sources spike, what landing page quality actually does to conversion — those don’t reset.
If you’re already working with Alpha Affiliates, now is a good time to debrief with your manager and plan how to carry this momentum into Q3.
